    What is Mahjong Connect?

    Mahjong originates in East Asia. It is difficult to say exactly where it was invented: in Japan or China.

    Four players gather at the table and take dice painted with hieroglyphs. According to the strategy, it resembles poker - points are awarded for collected combinations of knuckles - and it also requires observation, good memory and experience. But at the same time, in every scenario there is still an element of chance.

    What else is similar to mahjong with card games - a set of dice can be used to layout solitaire with the same name.

    A Mahjong Connect board consists of 140 tiles that are arranged in a certain shape. The classic arrangement is in such a manner that 10 tiles will be arranged vertically while 14 tiles will be arranged horizontally in each row.

    The History of Mahjong

    The history of mahjong and mahjong connect, like many eastern inventions, is shrouded in myths. According to one legend, Confucius himself became its creator, more than 2500 years ago. It is said that Confucius loved birds, and therefore called the new fun “manzu”, that is, “sparrow”. And while traveling through ancient China, the philosopher not only spread his teachings, but also introduced people to the game.

    Therefore, several knuckles called the “three dragons” correspond with the three main virtues in Confucianism: moderation, goodwill and prosperity.

    Another legend says that the fisherman Jie invented the bones from time immemorial in order to be distracted from constant rolling and seasickness.

    According to scientific data, the game was invented about 150 years ago. This is indicated by all written and graphic sources. It is impossible to attribute the invention with certainty to specific historical persons, or a city. The homeland of mahjong is believed to be the province in southern China. The basis for it could be a game of cards ma-qiao, in which, in addition to numbered cards of four suits, there were also leaves with flowers. But the knuckles appeared under the influence of dominoes.

    There are theories that this is the notion of officers or nobles, for entertainment in their free time.

    At first, mahjong connect was not widely known, it was known only in its native south and in Beijing, but after unexplained reasons, popularity rose sharply, and at the beginning of the twentieth century it received the status of a national game. Then there was a spread outside of China.

    Mahjong Bones

    Mahjong connect knuckles resemble white bricks with drawings indicating their value. There are sets from 136 to 144 or more bones, it is considered traditional - 144.

  • 1. Suits (108 pieces)
  • • Points;
  • • Bamboos;
  • • Symbols;

  • 2. Noble bones (28 bones)
  • • Four Winds;
  • • Three Dragons;

  • 3. Flowers (8 bones)
  • • Flowers;
  • • Seasons;

  • Before the competition, the knuckles are mixed and “walls” are built from the closed ones along the borders of the field. During the tournament, the participants gradually disassemble them, and the discarded knuckles stack in the center.

    Mahjong Rules

    There are many official variations of the game: Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, American - each with its own set of rules and features.

    The total is the number of players and the balance of power: each for himself. The game includes several sessions of two rounds. And in one round comes from four distributions of knuckles.

    The dealer makes the move first, and since he has one knuckle more, he discards it, and then the turn goes counterclockwise. Each new move brings the participant one bone from the wall, and one takes away. Typed whetstones are called “hand”.

    Their number is different for each type of mahjong connect, but always one bone more than each player can have. Therefore, the player must decide whether to declare his victory immediately after taking the knuckle from the wall. If he does not, then discards one of the existing ones, and the distribution goes on.

    Such a strategy is justified if a more valuable combination is required to win. To do this, you need to collect a sequence of three knuckles of the same variety: a set of “chow”, three identical “pungs”, or four bones “cong”. A player can declare such a set, but then he will not be able to fold any of the dice.

    When one of the opponents collected and opened the winning combination, or the bones in the wall ran out, the distribution ends, all the chips are mixed, and everything starts all over again.
